Clinton ran a surplus because the stock market was going up fast and Republicans ran Congress, cut welfare and reduced expenditures. The wasn't actually a surplus once you deduct the excess Social Security revenues.

Jeez, people. It's not the Right, or Left, or just Congress. Everyone is out for themselves and Congress, the White House, the State House, the City Council, are all up for sale. GE, Citigroup, WalMart, NEA, SEIU, GM, they've all figured out the system....

I live in a large school district. The ONLY teachers fired the past 5 years are for sexual misconduct with students.

Sure, let them stay home regardless of commitment. Then, we can extend it to mothers with older children, and then fathers, aunts, etc.

Both Daschle and Geitner paid the tax due and some interest, but NO penalties. IRS penalties start at about 10% and go over 25%, why not?

The amazing thing is not just that he failed to pay taxes and failed to tell the person preparing his tax return, which he then signed. What kills me is that the IRS didn't waive penalties and interest for me, and certainly not for something 6-7 years overdue! Guess it helps to …

Congress hasn't done anything for the past 2, no, make that 10 years. Besides, does Obama even know where his Senate office is located?
